De azur, una nave del siglo XVI de tres mástiles, de plata, llevando en el mástil trasero una grimpola con la inscripción Victoria, surmontada por un círculo de diez piedras en su color, a su vez surmontado por añepas en su color puestas en aspa y una antigua de oro. Bordura de gules con diez granadas de oro. Al timbre, corona real cerrada.

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on March 17, 1995.

The ship is an allusion to the fact, that Fernando de Magallanes, who surrounded the world by ship for the very first time, sailed to the harbour of Granadilla,Puerto de Roja (today: El Médano) in 1525. His flagship was the vessel SANTA MARIA DE VICTORIA. Therefore the pennant upon the stern has the inscription "Victoria".

The ring of stones, the sticks and the crown/coronet are referring to the old mini-kingdom of Abona. The pomegranates upon the bordure are symbolizing the villages name, which has been derived from well-known Granada in Andalusia. Their number is an allusion to the ten settlements of Granadilla.
