Official blazon

(1819) Van lazuur beladen met een geharnasten ridder houdende een schild en speer alles van goud, het goude schild beladen met 9 ballen van lazuur.
(1840) Een blaeuw veld, met het gulden beeld van eenen ridder, gewapend van het hoofd tot de voeten, houdende by de regter hand eene speer, ook van goud, de linker hand steunende op een gulden schildeken voerende negen blauwe platte ronden ruytsgewyze geplaetst.
(1988) In lazuur een Sint-Quirinus van goud, houdend een ovaal schild van hetzelfde beladen met negen koeken van het veld waarvan een in het middelpunt en acht zoomsgewijze geplaatst.

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on November 10, 1819 and confirmed on July 9, 1840 and June 6, 1988.

The arms show St. Quirinus, as the local chuch has some important relics of the saint.

As no colours were specified the arms were granted in the Dutch national colours. After the independence of Belgium in 1830 the arms were confirmed, but the colours were not changed.
