Official blason

I fält av silver en svart kappsläde och däröver en svart ginstam, belagd med en hästsko, ett mynt och en femuddig stjärna, alla av silver.

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on June 30, 1959.

The main charge is a sledge, typical for transport on the frozen lakes in the winter. The star is a symbol for the local industries.

The horseshoe and silver ball are taken from a local legend. A long time ago a coin and a horseshoe were hidden each in a sock. These socks were thrown in the river. On the spot where the sock with the coin was found, the Skillingmark church was founded (skilling was the name of the type of coin), where the horseshoe was found, the Järnskog ('iron forest') church was found.
