MAUTERN IN STEIERMARK

State : Steiermark
District : Leoben

Mautern.jpg

Origin/meaning :
The borough of Mautern was granted arms by Emperor Ferdinand II Oct 20, 1633.

The letters patent offers no explanations, as usual. This grant was made following pleading of Mautern's landlord, Max Preiner Freiherr zu Stübing. The beaver was taken from his family arms.
