Official blazon
Quarterly, 1st, Argent, a Celtic cross Sable; 2nd, Gules, a garb Or; 3rd, Gules, a barrulet wavy, in chief a salmon bowed contournee Argent; 4th, Argent, an Aberdeen Angus hull's head erased Sable; over all a pale Azure charged with three boars' heads couped Or, armed Argent and langued Gules.
Above the Shield is placed a Coronet appropriate to a statutory Community Council, videlicet:- a circlet richly chased from which are issuant four thistle leaves (one and two halves visible) and four pine cones (two visible) Or.
Origin/meaning
The arms were granted on December 4, 1995.
The quartered arms reflect the main features of and influences on the life of the community.
The black Celtic cross on its silver field recalls that there has been a Christian presence here since the fifteenth century and that it has remained strong over the centuries.
The garb and the Aberdeen-Angus hull's head stand for farming, the main occupation of a fertile area, while the salmon and the wavy barrulet are respectively for fishing and the river Ythan, on which Methlick village stands.
The blue pale overall with its three gold boars' heads alludes to the close connection with the Cordon, Marquesses of Aberdeen and Temair, whose seat, Haddo House, is in the parish.
