(fr) Coupé: au 1er parti au I d'azur au cheval fabuleux mariné d'or et au II d'or au brin de cresson de sinople, fleuri d'une quartefeuille d'argent boutonnée d'or, au 2e de gueules au-vol d'or sur lequel broche une roue antique d'argent et accosté de deux chaînes d'argent de deux maillons et demi, celle de dextre posée en bande, celle de senestre en barre.

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially adopted on May 20, 2022.

The first quarter represents Nixéville; the sea-horse symbolises a nix, a Geramnic or Nordic water god or nymph. The sprig of watercress is canting for the toponym Blercourt. First mentioned as Berlei Curtis in 1049, the name would be linked to the word Berle derived from the Gaulish berura (watercress).

The wings symbolise Saint Léger, to whom the church of Nixéville is dedicated. The chains are broken like the bonds that bound Peter in the prison of Jerusalem where King Herod had him interned. The church of Blercourt is dedicated to Saint Peter. The redfield recalls the martyrdom of these two saints.

The antique wheel and the two half-flights symbolize the Sacred Way Memorial.

The tits are common birds in the trees of the fields and surrounding forest.
