Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on July 19, 2002.

The gold nuggets refer to the gold mining in Roman and medieval times. The name Oriola, is also derived from the Latin Auro (gold). The wolf is derived from the arms of the first Earl of Oriola, Baron Alvito.

The base refers to the Alvito dam and lake, which are a popular tourist attraction.
