Escudo de prata, dois remos de negro postos em pala e compostos, entre dois pinheiros de verde, troncados e arrancados de vermelho, em contra-chefe, três burelas ondeadas de azul e prata. Coroa mural de prata de três torres. Listel branco com a legenda a negro, em maiúsculas : “ PALHAIS - BARREIRO “.

The trees refer to the large local forests, the Mata de Machada. The two oars refer to the sailiing on the Tagus river with different types of boats, which was common in the past. The base refers to the Coina and Tagus rivers.
