Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on September 5, 1901.

The arms were confirmed rather than granted by the Ministry of the Interior. Apparently the arms were long in use before 1901. There is, however, no explanation.

The charge, a winged eagle leg, is rather rare. It appears, for instance, also in the arms of Villach.
