Origin/meaning
The chief azure, bearing the word 'Humilitas' and a ducal crown, both or, combine the simple arms used by the Saint Charles Borromeo while Bishop of Milan, with a crown taken from the Borromeo family arms.
The gules dexter half shows a book, paged argent edged or, charged sable with the Greek letters 'Alpha' and 'Omega' for the Sum of Truth.
Charged with a plowshare or, the vert sinister half honors the Seminary's location in Pennsylvania. Taken from the Commonwealth's arms, the implement recalls the motto, 'Exiit Qui Seminat' ('The Sower went Forth to Sow' - Matthew 13:3).
Behind the shield is a cross, double-barred to denote Archdiocesan status.
