History: Formed at Bracknell in 1 June 1943.

Official blazon
English Issuant from an Astral crown Or a winged demi-lion gules holding in the dexter jamb an olive branch proper.

Motto: Keepers of the Peace.

Origin/meaning

The Second Tactical Air Force was on 1 January 1959 renamed Royal Air Force Germany. The badge was kept only the wording on the border was changed to ROYAL AIR FORCE GERMANY. The Lion is indicative of Courage and Strength whilst the Olive Branch represents the Compassion shown to the Vanquished. The Badge was approved in January 1953.
