Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on July 21, 1899.

The arms are identical to the arms of the Lords of Sint-Joris-ten-Distel during the 18th century, the Triest family. The family, originated from Brugge and acquired the estate by inheritance in 1725. They remained owners of the estate until they sold the estate in 1790.
