STENZENGREITH

State : Steiermark
District : Weiz
Incorporated into : 2015 Gutenberg-Stenzengreith

Wappen von Stenzengreith/Arms (crest) of Stenzengreith

Official blazon

In goldenem Schild pfahlweise zwei gestürzte auswärts gekehrte blaue Reithauen, von einer roten Akelei mit zwei Blättern und zwei Blüten unterlegt.

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on May 4, 1998.

The municipality bears a "clearing name" dating back to the Middle Ages, -greith being derived from "reuten" or "roden" (to clear). The hoes symbolize the great labours of the settlers and farmers through history. The columbine (Aquilegia vulgaris) stands for nature.
