Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on May 16, 1995.

The upper part of the arms shows a lute, which already appeared on old seals of the village. The meaning, however, is not known.

The lower part shows the bars of the medieval family Eckenbrecht von Tegkwitz, who originated from the village, and a cross with fleur-de-lis. These refer to the local Marienkirche. A fleur-de-lys is a common symbol for St. Mary. The Eckenbrecht von Teckwitz family were related to the Counts of Starkenberg, who used similar arms.
