THE ROYAL IRISH REGIMENT (OLD), BRITISH ARMY

History: Raised in 1684, and was also known as 18th (Royal Irish) Regiment of Foot and 18th (The Royal Irish) Regiment of Foot. Since 1881 known as the Royal Irish Regiment. Disbanded in 1922, following creation of the Irish Free State.

Regimental Headquarters: Kickham Barracks, Clonmel.
