Distinctive Unit Insignia. Description: A gold color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86cm) in height overall consisting of a vertical gold arrow entwined by a black serpent in front of a red open triangle and all surmounting a continuous blue scroll inscribed "QUALITY CARE CONCERN" in gold letters between the angles of the triangle.
Origin/meaning
The single serpent entwined around a golden arrow symbolizes the DENTAC's high goals, exemplified by diligent striving to further knowledge and to improve dental care. The triangle is symbolic of cohesiveness and dedication of the three groups in the triad: "Officer," "Enlisted" and "Civilian" members of the organization. Red is the color of strength and firmness, and blue represents courage.
The Distinctive Unit Insignia was approved on 28 May 1981.
