Origin/meaning

The arms were officially adopted in March 1981.

The inverted chevron is a capital V, initial of the town. The trhee lions in red are taken from the coat of arms of the family of Savigny, former lords of Vavincourt. The two two barbels are taken from the arms of the Duchy of Bar.
