Origin/meaning
The Badge shows the Arms of Maarten Harpertsz Tromp (1598-1653) and his son Cornelis Maartensz Tromp (1629-1691). Both served as Lieutenant Admiral Generals and won great distinction as commanders of the Fleet. The elder Tromp fell in the Battle of Terheyde 10 August 1653. Among others the name has been used by a Cruiser in Service 1938-1968, a Frigate in Service 1975-1999 and since 2003 it is used by a Frigate.
