Origin/meaning

The badge is based on the arms of Abraham Ferdinand van Zijll (1642-1697)., a Captain of the Amsterdam Admirality. He served in many expeditions and Naval Battles. He died of diseace in the West Indies on 3 August 1697. The badge was approved on 18 August 1952.
