Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on September 1, 1997.
The dragon is a symbol of St. Margareth, the local patron saint. The grapes symbolise the famous wines of Alcanhões. The fountain refers to the many springs in the municipality and the former importance of the town as a spa.
