Wappen von Beselich

Official blazon

(de)

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on January 18, 1979.

The silver crosses are taken from the arms of the Lords of Nassau-Hadamer, the three red pales are taken from the arms of the COunts of Wied-Runkel. Both families historically owned and ruled the present municipality.
The four crosses also symbolise the four former municipalities.

The inversed inescutcheon represents the former basilica of the local monastery and is partially seen as canting, Beselich resembles basilica. The arms acyually show the local chapel of Maria Hilf, as the original basilica does no longer exist.

The inescutcheon is shown inversed to resemble a border stone, as such a stone existed in the monastery and separated the possessions of the two counties. The green colour represents the forests.
