The arms were officially granted on February 15, 1907.

The arms combine the lion from the arms of the city [[Bräunlingen]], with the arms of [[Austria]]. Historically the area belonged to the Breisgau, which was part of Austria until 1803. The village was founded around 1500 and was part of Bräunlingen until 1846 when it became a separate municipality. Until 1971 when it was again incorporated into Bräunlingen.

Initially the municipality received arms in 1903.

These arms show the Bräunlingen lion within a bordure of Fürstenberg. The municipality adopted the design, but already during the next years regretted the arms. The village was never part of the State of Fürstenberg and the bordure thus was not appropriate. Based on these objections the State Archives proposed the arms granted in 1907.
