Zeutern was first mentioned in 1281 as a village with its own local court. The village did, however, not use a seal until the early 18<sup>th</sup> century. The seal shows the patron saint St. Martin on a horse with a church in the background and a letter Z in the foreground. The letter obviously signifies the name of the village. In the next seals the saint remained the main figure.
