VÅGÅ

Province : Oppland

Arms of Vågå

Official blazon

På raud grunn eit springande gull reinsdyr på skrå oppover.

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on August 23, 1985.

The arms are based on a character in Henrik Ibsens book Peer Grynt, who rides on a deer over the mountains. Ibsen got the idea for this book from a local story.
