===Origin/meaning===
As common in US episcopal heraldry, the arms show the arms of the diocese impaled with the personal arms of the bishop.
The  personal arms of Bishop Zurek symbolizes his life, his heritage and his admiration for His Holiness [[John Paul II]]. The red colour is the dominant color in the arms and the flag of the Czech Republic. By the use of this color the bishop honours the ethnic heritage of his parents. On the field is placed a gold cross that is taken from the arms of Pope John Paul II, and like the cross in the Holy Father's arms this cross, too, is skewed to the upper left. In the center of this cross is placed a Bluebonnet blossom, proper. The use of the indigenous flower is to signify that it has been in Central Texas that Bishop Zurek has ministered to God's Holy People.
