The Graanveld (Afrikaans for " grain field" ) Primary School is situated at Bethlehem in the wheat growing region of the Free State. The name Bethlehem itself means " house of bread". The three ears of wheat, which are in direct allusion to the school's name, are complemented by a partition per fess nowy flory to base. Both the three ears of wheat and the three petals which balance them to base, allude to the interaction of pupil, teacher and an
parent in the educational process.
