The hawk is the local historical heritage of the castle of Toulonjac. The cow is a symbol for the traditional cattle breeding in the area.
 
The base and chief show that the village was part of the Rouerge region. The lion is the symbol for Rouerge, the chief symbolises that the county of Rouergue was in the royal domain since the 14th century.  The Occitan cross indicates thet in medieval time Rouergue was under the authority of the Count of Toulouse.
 
The whol arms also show the French colors: blue, white and red.
