Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on June 7, 1978.

The arms are canting, the rosary being the symbol of the local patron saint, Santa Rita de Cássia. The two palm trees are also canting, coquieros.

The shield is surrounded by coffee, rice and sugar cane branches, the main agricultural crops in the area.
