The Parachute on the Hurt alludes to the Airborne Role and the 82nd Airborne Division. The Wings in the Crest symbolises swiftness. The Bayonet (Dagger) stands for World War I service as Infantry.
The Blue disc with the spur symbolises World War II service as a Mechanized Cavalry Reconnaissance Unit. The Plam Fronds allude to service in the Armed Forces Expedition and Southwest Asia operations.
