The deer refers to the forests in the municipaliuty. The meaning of the flames I do not know. The wheatear is a symbol for the agricultural character of the village.

The crest shows a raven holding a bread roll. This is taken from the arms of the Order of Saint Paul the First Hermit (Pauline Monks), used in the arms of [[Juraj Utješenović|George Martinuzzi]], Archbishop of Esztergom in 1551. He was the prior of the Pauline monastery in Sajólád in the beginning of his career. The palm leaf also refers to him as a priest.
