The arms were officially granted on May 27, 1982.

The chief refers to the Ramstein Castle, a possession of the Archbishops of Trier. The red and silver are also the colours of the [[Diocese of Trier|State of Trier]]. The lower half shows the village sign, seen on borderstones in the municipality. It is probably derived from a combination of a crosier and a cross. The other half refers to the former importance of sandstone mining in the municipality.
