CASERES
Region : Catalonia
Province : Tarragona
Spanish | Escudo en losange de ángulos rectos: de gules, un perro pasante de oro acompañado de una cruz de Malta en el jefe. Por timbre, una corona de villa. |
English | No blazon/translation known. Please click here to send your (heraldic !) blazon or translation |
Origin/meaning
The arms were granted on April 15, 1982.
The arms are canting: they show a hound, that refers both to a "ca" (Catalan for "dog") and to the "caceres" (Catalan popular ethymology for "huntings"). The Cross of Malta appears because the town belonged to the Templar (and later Hospitaller ) command of Horta de Sant Joan.
