Origin/meaning

The arms were officially adopted in 2004 as village arms. The municipality (until 1974) did not use arms.

The arms show the Birkenberg mountain and a man who is obviously 'cold'(Kalt) and thus a canting element., which also refers to the highest point in the region and its harsh climate. This symbolism was already used on the old municipal seal. The left corner shows stylized St. John's wort flowers, which refer to the traditional annual Johanneskirmes.
