Origin/meaning
The oldest known seal of the village dates from 1507 and shows a canting jug (Stauf) on a mountain (Berg). All seals until the end of the 18th century show the same composition, on the latter seals in a shield.
In the early 19th century it was mentioned that the municipality had no own seal, thus in 1819 a new seal was made. There was no reference anymore to the jug, as the seal showed the letters ST. In the late 19th century, the jug returned, not on a hill, but between two laurel branches. This composition was made into arms in the spring of 1901. The colours were chosen arbitrarily.
