Origin/meaning
The arms were granted on March 12, 1949.
The arm show as the main symbol the large oak-of-freedom in the town. This was an actual symbol, just after the second world war. The small shield is the arms of the counts of Holstein as the area is part of Holstein since 1640.
Literature: Stadler, 1964-1971, 8 volumes.
