German |
In Silber auf grünem Dreiberg ein flugbereiter, widersehender, golden bewehrter schwarzer Adler. |
English | blazon wanted |
Origin/meaning
The arms are canting, showing an eagle (Aar or Adler) on a stone (Stein). The composition already appeared on the oldest known seal of the city, dating from 1378. All later seals and images show the same composition, but the size and shape of the eagle has changed often during the centuries. The colours are known and used since 1544.
