WOLFSKEHLEN

State : Hessen
District (Kreis) : Gross-Gerau
Incorporated into : 1977 Riedstadt

Wappen von Wolfskehlen/Arms (crest) of Wolfskehlen
Official blazon
German Steigender Wolf und Wolfsangel auf rotem Grund.
English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The arms show a canting wolf and a so-called wolf's hook.

The arms first appear on the local seal dating from around 1600. A second seal on the other hand shows only the hook and two stars. The arms were officially granted in 1927, based on the oldest seal. Silver, blue and red are the colours of the arms of the Counts of Hessen, who ruled the town since 1479.

Literature: Stadler, 1964-1971, 8 volumes.
