The village developed around the castle Včelnice, which in 1649 became a possession of the Spanish Count Bartholomäus Paradys de la Saga and when his wife, Countess Hippolita von Lodron was saved after a flood in 1662, he made a pilgrimage to Altötting and devoted his chapel to the Madonna of Altötting and had a copy made of the statue for the chapel. He renamed the chapel Neu Öttingen (or Neuötting) and her son, Bernhard Franz (Bernard František) Paradys de la Saga had 54 houses built around it. This village received town rights and arms.
