The two blue fleurs-de-lis refer to the unit’s two battle honors during World War I in which it served as Infantry. The unit also served as Infantry in World War II and the chief alludes to the assault landing in Normandy, the lion being taken from the Normandy coat of arms and the symbol of Mars combining the “arrowhead” signifying an assault landing and the annulet which simulates the letter “O” and alludes to “Omaha Beach,” the unit’s assault area. The color blue refers to the Distinguished Unit Citation awarded the unit and is also the Infantry color. | ||
