History: The Durham Light Infantry was formed in 1881 by amalgamation of the 68th (Durham) Regiment of Foot (Light Infantry) and 106th Bombay Ligth Infantry. The last mentioned Regiment was raised in 1839 as the 2nd Bombay European Regiment (Light Infantry).
