The field is quartered red and blue, and together with the silver of the Paschal lamb, honors the Slovenian past and American present of the Pevec family.

Literature:
The haloed Paschal lamb supporting a gold cross=-staff flying therefrom a silver banner with a red cross, signifies priesthood, sacrifice, and the Eucharist, and summarizes in symbolic form the Bighop's years spent in priestly formation in the context of Borromeo Seminary.

The red quarters of the shield honor Bishop Anthony Michael Pilla, ninth Bishop of Cleveland, and senior consecrator of Bishop Pevec, while the blue quarters honor Bishop Clarence George Issenmann, seventh Bishop of Cleveland, on who's fiftieth anniversary of ordination, Bishop Pevec received the fullness of the priesthood.

Two martlets in chief are derived from the traditional Arms of Saint Edward, the Confessor, hig baptismal patron. In the base of the shield is a golden lyre, symbol of harmony, and here refers to the name Pevec, which translated from Slovenian means singer, or poet. The lyre also obliquely refers to the Bishop's motto taken from the Letter to the Hebrews 10:7 I COME TO DO YOUR WILL; by doing God's Will, one lives in harmony with God.
