Canting arms: they show traditionally a thrush ("tord" in Catalan) perched on a branch. The floury mount below alludes to the near castle of Bellpuig, literally "beautiful hill". This castle was destroyed during the earthquakes of 1428, and its lords possessed, in late 16<sup>th</sup> century, the barony of Sales, to which the village of Tortellà belonged.
