===Origin/meaning===
===Origin/meaning===
Assenheim received city rights a little before 1275 and the oldest known seal dates from about the same time. It already shows the rather odd-shaped tower. All later seals and images show the same tower, with one exception. In the 17th century the city used a seal with the combined arms of Solms and Hanau, the ruling dynasties over the city at the time.
