===Origin/meaning=== | |||
The mining settlement was founded in the vicinity of tin ore mines in the thirteenth century. In 1478 it was promoted by King Wladislav II to the status of a mining town and granted a coat-of-arms on this occasion. In the right part of the upper section of the divided coat-of-arms the crowned Bohemian lion indicates that the town was a part of the Bohemian kingdom while the black lion and eight black and golden bars in the left part represent the arms of the lords from Koldice, the owners of the town at that time. | |||
