The arms are derived from the arms of the Barons of Obin, Lords of Wasseignes in the 17th and 18<sup>th</sup> century. The arms also appeared on the seal of the local council from the 17<sup>th</sup> century. Previously the council used a seal with a lion, derived from the arms of Namur.
