The arms are based on the 17<sup>th</sup> century seal of the village. The arms are those of the Van Horn(e) family, at the time Lords of Beveren, Stavele and [[Krombeke]]. The family owned the estate of Beveren for a long time until 1715, when it was sold to Frans van Nieuwland. As there were no other arms or seals known, the council adopted the Van Horn(e) arms in 1953.
