Origin/meaning
The tinctures are a Brodure Gules a field wavy Argent and Vert, the enschuteon is Vert and cahrged with three Hawks Argent. Crest two Lion jambs Gules holding the enschuteon. Symbolises the Azores (Hawk Islands) in the surrounding Atlantic Waters. The Brodure symbolises a Military Command. The Lion jambs holding the shield symbolises the Soldiers defending the Azores.
The Motto translates as "Always fast".
The designation was later changed to Military Zone of the Azores.
