SANTO ANTÔNIO DA ALEGRIA

State : São Paulo

Coat of arms (crest) of Santo Antônio da Alegria
Official blazon
Portuguese blazon wanted
English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on November 6, 1978.

The coat of arms of Santo Antonio da Alegria is canting: the cross with twelve acorns comes from the arms of the noble Portuguese family of Bulhoes, whose most distinguished member was St. Anthony of Lisbon (also known as St. Anthony of Padua), the patron saint of the city and the arms of the city alludes, besides, to the mountain of the Holy Cross (morro de Santa Cruz) and to the Pinheirinho river which flows through the city.

The supporters show that coffee is the most important agricultural product of the region.

The shield is surmounted by a mural crown appropriate to a city and a scroll below the shield bears the name of the city.
