The arms were granted on March 2, 1970.

The lion is taken from the arms of Johan Egger van Maarbach, mayor of Steyr in the 17<sup>th</sup> century. He owned several industries in the municipality and 1n 1631 acquired a large piece of land in the village for mining activities. He has thus been of great importance for the illage.
