AASEN

State : Baden-Württemberg
District (Kreis) : Schwarzwald-Baar Kreis (until 1973 Donaueschingen)
Incorporated into: 1972 Donaueschingen

Wappen von Aasen/Arms (crest) of Aasen
Official blazon
German In Silber mit blauem Wolkenbord ein schräglinks gestelltes schwarzes Mühleisen.
English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The cloudy bordure is derived from the arms of the Princes of Fürstenberg, to whom the area belonged until 1806. The mill iron is taken from the arms of the Lords of Balgheim, who ruled the area in the 14th and 15th centuries as sheriffs of the Princes of Fürstenberg.

In 1895 the State Archives proposed the above arms, as no historical arms or seals were known. In 1896 the municipality accepted the proposal.
